Compact, Smart, Sustainable – First Klemm KR702-3 in the UK
The new Klemm KR702-3 drilling rig is the logical further development of the popular and well established KR702 series.
With the newly developed electric and hydraulic controls, the drilling rig is more efficient and powerful than ever before. The Klemm technologies EEP (automatic reduction of the engine rpm) and Power Sharing (automatic power adjustment of the main pumps in real time) are now available. The new hydraulic control blocks giving constant performance and better sensitivity, allowing all functions on the radio remote control and in turn a redesigned rig body. With an intelligent connection between the power pack and rig, the settings can be changed on the power pack display and, pressure regulation and hammer frequency on the remote control.
The KR702-3 drilling rig is especially suited to work in confined spaces. For extremely compact sites, special attention was paid to the optimum design of the rig in terms of performance capability, load-bearing capacity and versatility. The KR 702-3 can be used in confined spaces, inside buildings and basements, as it fits through openings 2400mm high and 750mm wide. The crawler undercarriage can be projected to 1250mm and has four independently moveable outriggers as standard, which provides excellent stability in all drilling situations.
Projects with low head room restrictions are conquered with the telescopic mast giving the opportunity to work in head room of less than 2500mm. The mast can be fitted with a range of rotary heads and drifters and accompanied with single clamp or clamp and breaker, depending on the application.
Now including all functions and an LED information display, the new Danfoss radio remote control allows the rig to be operated from a safe distance.
The new UK double hinged interlocked safety guard allows optimal access to the drill string during reduced operation mode.
The rig can be combined with the Power Pack PP 117G or with the brand new electric Power Pack PP 55E.
Adhering to the latest emission regulations the PP117G has a powerful 129kW Stage V CAT diesel engine. The unit can be either track mounted or wheeled, with transport and working hose sets with quick couplings. The insulated engine compartment has gullwing doors and an extendable electrical box for easy access. The track mounted version has a separate small radio remote for tracking.
The new generation PP 55E power pack is the perfect match for the KR 702-3 drilling rig when it comes to zero exhaust emission and reduced noise. Compact for confined conditions, 55kW electrical motor power and two main pump circuits characterise the Power Pack. The Power Sharing technology, included for the first time in a Power Pack of this size, ensures that the pump outputs are optimally adapted to the current operating condition in real time. Also available tracked and wheeled versions.
The very first KR702-3 to arrive in the UK was specified as a restricted access, low head room SFA mini piling rig. The power pack selected was the PP117G track mounted version. Ideal for this application is the high torque rotary head with a 4” passage through the head and 4” swan neck. For SFA work up to 450mm dia. augers and 508mm dia casing, a 508mm dia. single clamp was fitted to complete the set up.
